Phoenix and Ashes

By Mercedes Lackey
ISBN: 0-7564-0272-7

Once again, Lackey has written a good book. This book is part of her Elemental Mage series. Eleanor Robinson’s life is shattered when her father volunteers for the Great War (WWI) and dies in the trenches. She is left in the hands of her step-mother. Yes, the plot is Cinderella with a modern twist.

Since I really enjoy history, I was pleased with the setting (WWI setting) and how the story fit so well in the setting.

In my opinion, this book deserves 4.5 stars.
